Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback and Virginia native Desmond Ricks locked in his commitment date for Dec. 23, the last day of the Early Signing Period.
Ricks will decide between Alabama, Florida and LSU. All three programs will get officials in December with the Gators coming the first weekend, the Crimson Tide the second and the Tigers the third.
“Really all three of them are a good place to develop and play,” Ricks’ father Vernon told 247Sports.
Ricks will enroll early at the school of his choosing but plans to use the entire three-day signing period to get his decision down to one program.
“He wanted to use as much time as he could to think about where he wants to go,” the elder Ricks said.
Ricks father elaborated on what stands out about each program.
Regarding the Crimson Tide: “He can really go there and really develop. You have Coach T-Rob and of course Coach Saban will have hands on with him. That’s what he likes about Alabama.”
Regarding the Gators. “We went to the cookout and we just went to a game a couple weeks ago. Really the game it was really loud in there so it was really nice. The game atmosphere was really nice and that’s what Des really liked about it. He like Coach Raymond. He speaks really highly of Coach Raymond.
Regarding the Tigers: “We like the culture there and the coaches. When we got there they really roll out the red carpet for us and they really talk to Des and it’s the culture there and the atmosphere, it’s a really good atmosphere there at LSU.”
Ricks will see two of his favorites this weekend in Death Valley as he heads back to LSU for the Alabama game.
The 247Sports Composite tabs Ricks as the No. 2 cornerback in the country and No. 15 overall player.
