Final predictions: South Carolina at Vanderbilt

It’s just about that time again for the South Carolina football team to take the field. It’s the back third of the season and the Gamecocks (5-3, 2-3) are looking to clinch bowl eligibility against Vanderbilt, a team that they have won 13 straight games against.

The Commodores (3-5, 1-4) have been a bit plucky this season, and are coming off of a bye week and a chance to get healthy. Second-year head coach Clark Lea is likely to use a pair of different quarterbacks in the game, but who starts is still somewhat of a mystery.

Here, in our final predictions piece before kickoff, we take a look at the keys for South Carolina to beat Vanderbilt, but also a look at some of the big games around the country. We’re also happy to have VIP member jacobg55 join us for the picks this week. Here’s what he thinks about the Gamecocks and Commodores.

jacobg55: A week where Gamecock fans seem to be at their wits end but the team looks to bounce back after Missouri. I don’t think much changes this week on offense against Vanderbilt, as Clark Lea will probably have a good defensive game plan. I do think the Gamecocks will do enough to win and will have a big defensive play leading to a score. My big prediction is Gilber Edmond or Jordan Burch gets home for a big strip sack leading to that score. I expect the Gamecocks to win but it may not be pretty. South Carolina 23 – Vanderbilt 10
