Ryan Day, C.J. Stroud questioned by media with Buckeyes on upset alert

Ryan Day and Ohio State football are in serious trouble against 1-7 Northwestern. Following a brutal offensive showing in the first half, the No. 2 Buckeyes (8-0) head into the locker room tied at 7-7 in Evanston, Illinois. The Wildcats have not beaten the Buckeyes since 2004 and trail 64-14-1 in the all-time series. Ohio State trailed 7-0 throughout the majority of the first half before wide receiver Emeka Egbuka rushed in a touchdown with 2:26 left. The Buckeyes were 38-point favorites.

Ohio State star quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled against the 32-plus-mph wind gusts in Evansville, completing 6 of 16 passes for 46 yards and zero touchdowns. With little happening through the air, Stroud racked up a season-high 29 rushing yards on three carries.

The return of running back Miyan Williams did little to spark the ground game. The junior back rushed 11 times for 22 yards as TreVeyon Henderson sat out with a left foot injury. Northwestern out-rushed Ohio State 109-72.
