CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A. — North Carolina (8-1, 5-0 ACC) secured an even tighter grip on the Coastal Division lead by way of a 31-28 win over the Virginia on Saturday afternoon.

For the third straight game, the Tar Heels overcame a halftime deficit for the win. Helping accomplish that feat was Elijah Green, who had two touchdowns on the day, both of which came in the second half – a four-yard run out of the halftime break, and a 22-yard catch and score. He led North Carolina in rushing with 91 yards on 22 attempts. Josh Downs led all receivers with 15 catches and 166 yards, including hauling in the go-ahead touchdown, a 19-yard pass from Drake Maye late in the third quarter. Maye finished 26-of-37 for 293 yards passing, plus added 74 rushing yards.

The Tar Heels travel will face No. 20 Wake Forest in Winston Salem next Saturday. Watch and read below everything UNC head coach Mack Brown said after the Tar Heel win over the Cavaliers …
